Shalev (tranquil) Wine

“Shalev” (tranquil in Hebrew), is a series of young wines. It’s design is aimed to convey a pastoral,
‘south of France’ style feeling.
The labels consists of a full picnic or other outdoor activity in the back and all of the information and typography, along with a crop from full image, in the front. The box sets (double and trio),
are made from single boxes wrapped with an image turned into handle.

project was made at the “Shenkar College of Engineering and Design”, Israel, 2009.

Hi guys!
What a beautiful piece of work.
I am also studying in Shenkar now, and I was wondering if you could advise me on some stuff to read about traditions of wine labels typography. Altogether with modern variations of labels, still there are many classical ones, including rich classical calligraphy labels . In my search over the net I did not find however what are the "rules" for classic wine labels. Are there any "must-haves", traditions etc in an approach of classical label design (with vignettes etc.)? If during your research you have found some material - I would be most thankful if you could advice me on some resources on that topic. thank you very much!
Sincerely,
Ira
