Herzliya Biennial 2009

A proposed identity for The Herzliya Biennial 2009 of Contemporary Art in Israel.
The design is based on the urban surroundings, which is the focus of the biennial (street art) and a bit of surreal style, while making sure not to overshadow the actual artwork.
A second, diagonal grid was used in the promotional materials to obtain a more vibrant, edgier feel.
project was made at the “Shenkar College of Engineering and Design”, Israel, 2008.

The Dream Book - Characters, Conditions & Objects

“The Dream Book” is an experiential text book created by Assaf Yogev. It's designed to help its readers to dive into their own subconscious and better understand or even resolve some issues of his or hers personal life.
The book covers basic ideas in psychoanalysis and focus especially on the works of Carl Gustav Jung and his “Collective Unconscious” theory.
By studying symbolic, universal images, which frequently reoccur in our dreams, we might learn about their message. Meaning - our subconscious.
The book is divided into four chapters. Foreword, which contains a theoretical background of the subject and three chapters which deals with different archetypes - characters, conditions and elements/objects.
Using a key, the reader can flip back and forth to learn about the connections of archetypes that are relevant to him or her.
The graphic language is very minimalistic and clean, emphasizing mostly black and white (ego/id, sleep/awake, night/day, etc.) as well as silhouettes so that the reader may identify with the subject and project his or hers own thoughts onto the situation.
The book uses pop-up and cut-outs to enrich the reading experience and assimilate the images into the reader subconscious, there by altering his dreams according to his will.
The last part contains four specific dreams and their suggested analysis and a CD with further information.
